Be careful with any website or message offering a fixed per-ton scrap price without seeing the unit — the final amount will still depend on the actual AC.
Factors that affect old AC scrap value
1. Compressor present and intact
The compressor is the heaviest part and contains copper windings. An AC with its compressor is valued noticeably higher than one without.
2. Copper or aluminium coils
Coils made of copper tubing generally carry more scrap value than all-aluminium coils. If you know your coil type, mention it; otherwise, photos and the model number help.
3. Completeness of the unit
For a split AC, both the indoor and outdoor units should ideally be present. Copper connecting pipes, fan motors and wiring also add value.
4. Type and size of AC
Window ACs and split outdoor units contain more metal than indoor units. Higher-capacity units usually have larger coils and compressors.
5. Physical condition
Heavy rust, crushed coils or a broken body can reduce the recoverable material.
6. Whether the AC is reusable
